Oh Dexter. What a bizarre set of situations the writers on your show have gotten you into. But I suppose the fact that you’re a serial killer is strange in and of itself. The heart of gold that you tote around mitigates any short comings you might have as a deranged sociopath. Unbeknownst to your friends and family you’ve slaughtered scores of people, but have always worked to hide behind some mask, held in place, although precariously by your sister and now by your new family.
Thanksgiving is a meditative time for some, but moreover it’s a time to dote on your family and those that you care about. It’s the entryway to December and the various holidays that fall later in that month. But if you’re a closeted murder, all of that takes on some other meaning. Instead, Dexter, you need to be more careful than you’d been in the past. Don’t come across as detached or uncaring about some seemingly trite holiday tradition. They’ll catch you sure enough. Be safe.
Walking into the familial spat of the Trinity Killer wasn’t a very good idea either. Of course, the fact that Arthur’s son didn’t alert anyone to your intention of joining them didn’t help. But it seemed like the murderer was pretty comfortable with you around despite his own mask slowly slipping away.
Interceding between father and son wasn’t a good idea. There was really only one outcome to that. Couldn’t you see it coming? Seriously, you’re a smart guy. Arthur snapping his kid’s finger probably couldn’t have been guessed at. But still, you knew something was going to happen after the kid brought his father’s Mustang back in such bad shape.
As for the lusty daughter, all locked up there in her room: I don’t really know what to say. You couldn’t have expected that. The signs weren’t really there – apart from the lock on the door. But she seemed like such a well adjusted teenager: all smiles and lovely looks. How you missed that lock is beyond me, though. I didn’t have a chance to find it seeing as I’m simply a spectator.
You also probably should have just killed him when you had the chance – any of the three times at this point. I don’t know if going after him now is the best idea. At least he doesn’t have any idea who you are. That’s really the only thing you have going for you now. The element of surprise is gone. But you can surely over power Arthur. I mean, he is like sixty at this point. So, give it a shot.
Regardless, it was good that you were able to make it back to your family in time for dinner. It really would have made the kids wonder what was going on. And as for your neighbor – you probably don’t need to off him seeing as he’s not a scumbag, but perhaps knocking him around would do him a bit of good. Something at least.
Your friend,
djc
