Who won the 2012 Creative Arts Emmy Awards?

Primetime Emmys right around the corner!

In one week, the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out. But before the big ceremony (telecast live on ABC on September 23), several shows and individuals are already winners. Last night, the Creative Arts Emmys were awarded. Don't read on if you want to be surprised, because highlights from this year's awards ceremony will air on Saturday, September 22, on ReelzChannel.

It was a big, big night for HBO. I suspect that will prove true for the Primetime Emmy Awards as well this year. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards honor technical categories and guest actors, by the way.
Who were the biggest winners at this year's Creative Arts Emmys? I mentioned that HBO came up big. All total, HBO took home 17 Emmy Awards during the ceremony at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Game of Thrones was honored with six Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Again, I suspect we'll see this outstanding fantasy TV show take home a slew of Primetime Emmys as well.

Score one for those of us rooting for Showtime's amazing drama Homeland: The series won the outstanding casting in a drama series award. I am actually smack in the middle of watching this show's first season right now, and I am hooked. The acting is phenomenal, the storylines are compelling and, quite frankly, I am riveted to my chair. I hope Netflix mails quickly; I need another fix. Pronto.

Okay, back to the Creative Arts Emmy Awards' 2012 winners now! I mentioned earlier that these Emmy Awards also honor guest actors, and Kathy Bates took home the Emmy for outstanding guest comedy actress for her role as Charlie Harper's ghost on CBS' Two and a Half Men. Other big winners included Martha Plimpton (The Good Wife), Jeremy Davies (Justified, in what some say was a surprise win) and Jimmy Fallon (Saturday Night Live).

Here's the full list of all the 2012 Creative Arts Emmy Awards winners. Did your favorite take home a statue? And who do you think the big winners will be for this year's 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards?
