I just finished watching the season two premiere of ABC's hit drama Revenge, and I must say, they're taking it in a great direction. A word of caution to those who haven't watched the episode, entitled "Destiny," yet: This review definitely contains a few spoilers. Proceed with caution.
Watching Revenge is without a doubt one of my guiltiest pleasures. Now that it's moved to Sunday nights, I've got a ton of TV to keep me occupied for hours: ABC's Once Upon a Time, then Revenge, and then the new drama 666 Park Avenue. Oh, and I can't forget that Showtime's Homeland also airs on Sunday. Whew!Back to the Revenge season premiere: I was almost certain Emily Thorne's cover was blown forever, but alas, our heroine's status as the Hampton's up-and-coming socialite is intact. No, she's not with Daniel Grayson anymore, but she's definitely still hot property. And now she's even more angry than she was before, having learned, through Nolan, that her mother is actually alive.
"Destiny" opens with Emily's struggle to recall memories about her mother. We learn that dear mom was institutionalized when Emily (aka Amanda) was quite young. And guess who was likely behind that decision? Yes, you guessed it: the Grayson family.
And yes, we also learned tonight that Victoria Grayson did not, in fact, die in a plane crash. Evidence that can exonerate Emily/Amanda's father, David Clarke, in a terrorist attack was not destroyed in the crash. In other words, it's game on -- again.
One of my favorite scenes from the Revenge season premiere involves Emily confronting a very pregnant Amanda. Enjoy:
It's claws out again on Revenge, and I for one couldn't be happier. I'm hooked on this show, and I have been since the pilot aired. Oh, and did you recognize the woman playing Emily/Amanda's mother? It's Jennifer Jason Leigh. I can't wait for the inevitable showdown between Emily's Mom and Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe)!
Revenge fans, what did you think about the season two premiere? Do you think this season will be as backstabbingly awesome as the first?
